Indications:

Cefaclor is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, including:

  • Upper respiratory tract infections, such as otitis media, sinusitis, and pharyngitis
  • Lower respiratory tract infections, including bronchitis and pneumonia
  • Urinary tract infections, such as cystitis and pyelonephritis
  • Skin and soft tissue infections, including cellulitis and impetigo
  • Genitourinary tract infections, including gonorrhea caused by penicillinase-producing strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae

 

Pharmacokinetics:

  • Absorption: Cefaclor is well absorbed after oral administration, with peak plasma concentrations achieved within 1-2 hours.
  • Distribution: The drug distributes widely into various body tissues and fluids, achieving therapeutic concentrations in the respiratory tract, urinary tract, and skin.
