Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics:

Fluconazole is a triazole antifungal medication that works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. By disrupting membrane integrity, fluconazole effectively kills or inhibits the growth of a wide range of fungal pathogens, including Candida species. Its broad-spectrum activity and excellent tissue penetration make it a valuable tool in the treatment of various fungal infections.

Drug Classification:

Fluconazole belongs to the azole class of antifungal agents. It is classified as a synthetic triazole derivative and is indicated for the treatment of superficial and systemic fungal infections.

Formulations:

Our Fluconazole Range is available in capsule form, with strengths of 50 mg and 150 mg. Each capsule contains fluconazole as the active ingredient, providing convenient and precise dosing for patients. The capsules are available in individual blister packs, ensuring freshness and potency.

Indications:

Fluconazole is indicated for the treatment of the following fungal infections:

  • Vaginal yeast infections (vulvovaginal candidiasis)
  • Oropharyngeal and esophageal candidiasis
  • Systemic candidiasis (including candidemia, disseminated candidiasis, and other forms of invasive candidiasis)
  • Cryptococcal meningitis
  • Prophylaxis of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients (such as those undergoing chemotherapy or organ transplantation)

Usage:

Fluconazole should be taken orally with water, either with or without food, as directed by a healthcare provider. The duration of treatment and dosage regimen may vary depending on the type and severity of the infection. Patients should continue taking fluconazole for the full course of treatment prescribed, even if symptoms improve before completion.

Dosage:

The recommended dosage of fluconazole depends on the type of infection being treated:

For vaginal yeast infections: A single 150 mg dose

For other fungal infections: 150 mg to 400 mg once daily, depending on the severity of the infection

For prophylaxis of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients, the usual dose is 50 mg to 400 mg once daily, based on individual patient factors and the underlying condition.

Side Effects:

While generally well-tolerated, fluconazole may cause some side effects, including:

  • Headache
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Rash
  • Elevated liver enzymes

Patients should notify their healthcare provider if they experience any persistent or bothersome side effects while taking fluconazole.

Our Fluconazole capsules are available in blister packs containing 1 or 7 capsules, providing flexibility and convenience for patients. Each pack is carefully sealed to ensure product integrity and freshness.
