Description

Pharmacokinetics:

Dexamethasone, a potent corticosteroid, exerts its therapeutic effects by binding to intracellular glucocorticoid receptors. Following ocular administration (E. Drop), dexamethasone is rapidly absorbed into the ocular tissues and exerts its anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and anti-allergic actions locally. The onset of action is rapid, with peak concentrations achieved within minutes of installation.

Pharmacodynamics:

Dexamethasone belongs to the class of corticosteroids and exhibits potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. By inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators and suppressing the immune response, dexamethasone effectively reduces ocular inflammation, swelling, and pain. Additionally, dexamethasone can alleviate symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis and other inflammatory eye conditions.

Drug Classification:

Dexamethasone is classified as a synthetic corticosteroid and belongs to the class of anti-inflammatory agents. It is commonly used in ophthalmology to treat inflammatory and allergic conditions of the eye, including uveitis, conjunctivitis, and keratitis.

Formulations:

Our Dexamethasone Range is available in the following formulation:

Eye Drops: Each ml contains 1 mg of dexamethasone in a sterile ophthalmic solution.

Indications:

Dexamethasone Eye Drops are indicated for the treatment of inflammatory and allergic conditions of the eye, including allergic conjunctivitis, uveitis, keratitis, and iritis. It is also used postoperatively to reduce ocular inflammation following ocular surgery.

Usage:

Shake the bottle well before each use. Instill one to two drops of Dexamethasone Eye Drops into the affected eye(s) every 4 to 6 hours, or as directed by your healthcare provider. Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and place the prescribed number of drops into the eye(s) without touching the dropper tip to any surface. Close your eyes gently and apply light pressure to the inner corner of the eye for 1-2 minutes to prevent drainage and systemic absorption.

Dosage:

The recommended dosage of Dexamethasone Eye Drops is one to two drops into the affected eye(s) every 4 to 6 hours. Your healthcare provider may adjust the dosage regimen based on the severity of your condition and your individual response to treatment. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage without consulting your healthcare provider.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Dexamethasone Eye Drops may include transient ocular irritation, burning sensation, stinging upon instillation, and blurred vision. Prolonged use of corticosteroids may lead to ocular hypertension, glaucoma, and cataracts. Rarely, allergic reactions such as itching, redness, and swelling of the eyelids or conjunctiva may occur. If you experience any unusual symptoms or side effects, discontinue use of the medication and consult your healthcare provider promptly.

Trust AIT Pharmaceuticals Division’s Dexamethasone Range to effectively manage inflammatory and allergic eye conditions, providing relief and promoting ocular health. With our commitment to quality and patient care, we strive to deliver safe and reliable treatments that meet the needs of our valued customers.
