Pharmacokinetics:

Chloramphenicol, a broad-spectrum antibiotic, is well-absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract after oral administration. It achieves therapeutic concentrations in various tissues and body fluids, including the cerebrospinal fluid, making it effective against systemic infections. The medication is metabolized primarily in the liver and excreted in the urine, with a half-life ranging from 1 to 4 hours in adults.

Pharmacodynamics:

As a bacteriostatic antibiotic, Chloramphenicol inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes. This action prevents the formation of peptide bonds, thereby halting the growth and reproduction of susceptible bacteria. Chloramphenicol demonstrates activity against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as certain anaerobic organisms.

Drug Classification:

Chloramphenicol belongs to the class of antibiotics known as phenicols. It is a synthetic derivative of nitrobenzene and exhibits potent antibacterial properties against various pathogens commonly encountered in clinical practice.

Formulations:

Our Chloramphenicol Range is available in multiple formulations to address different types of bacterial infections:

Use Chloramphenicol exactly as directed and complete the full course of treatment, even if you start to feel better before finishing the medication.

Dosage:

The dosage of Chloramphenicol varies depending on the type and severity of the infection, as well as patient factors such as age, weight, and renal function. Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions carefully and take the medication as directed. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage or duration of treatment without consulting your doctor.
