Pharmacokinetics:

Prednisolone acetate, a corticosteroid, exerts its pharmacological effects by entering cells and binding to specific intracellular receptors. After administration via the ocular route (E. Drop), prednisolone acetate is rapidly absorbed into ocular tissues, exerting its anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects locally. The onset of action is typically rapid, with peak plasma concentrations achieved within hours.

Pharmacodynamics:

Prednisolone acetate belongs to the class of corticosteroids, which are potent anti-inflammatory agents. It works by suppressing the inflammatory response, reducing edema, and inhibiting the migration of leukocytes to the site of inflammation. Additionally, prednisolone acetate modulates immune function by inhibiting the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines and mediators, thereby alleviating symptoms associated with ocular inflammation.

Drug Classification:

Prednisolone acetate is classified as a corticosteroid and belongs to the class of anti-inflammatory agents. It is commonly used in ophthalmology to treat a variety of inflammatory and allergic ocular conditions, including uveitis, keratitis, conjunctivitis, and iritis.

Formulations:

Our Prednisolone Acetate Range is available in the following formulations:

Eye Drops: Each ml contains 10 mg of prednisolone acetate in a sterile ophthalmic solution.

Ophthalmic Suspension: Each ml contains 10 mg of prednisolone acetate in a sterile ophthalmic suspension.

Indications:

Prednisolone acetate is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory and allergic conditions of the eye, including:

  • Allergic conjunctivitis
  • Anterior uveitis
  • Keratitis
  • Iritis
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Post-operative inflammation

Usage:

Shake the bottle well before each use. Instill the prescribed number of drops into the affected eye(s), as directed by your healthcare provider. Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and place the prescribed number of drops into the eye(s) without touching the dropper tip to any surface. Close your eyes gently and apply light pressure to the inner corner of the eye for 1-2 minutes to prevent drainage and systemic absorption.

Dosage:

The dosage of Prednisolone Acetate Range may vary depending on the severity of the condition and the individual patient’s response. Typically, one or two drops are instilled into the affected eye(s) every one to two hours initially, with the frequency gradually tapered as inflammation subsides. Your healthcare provider will determine the appropriate dosage regimen based on your specific condition and medical history.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Prednisolone Acetate Range may include transient stinging or burning upon instillation, temporary blurred vision, and increased intraocular pressure. Prolonged use or high doses may increase the risk of ocular complications such as glaucoma, cataracts, and corneal thinning. Rare but serious side effects may include allergic reactions, delayed wound healing, and ocular infection. If you experience any unusual symptoms or side effects, contact your healthcare provider promptly.

Trust AIT Pharmaceuticals Division’s Prednisolone Acetate Range to provide effective relief from ocular inflammation and related conditions. With our commitment to quality and patient care, we strive to improve the ocular health and well-being of individuals worldwide.
